Questions about The Compean Brief
What is The Compean Brief?
The Compean Brief is Compean Group's free monthly roundup of Houston-area local news for home buyers and sellers. It covers new businesses and developments, road and drainage projects, parks, school-district decisions, builder incentives and events, plus the latest HAR market figures and mortgage rates, organized by area.
How often is a new edition published?
Once a month, usually in mid-month after the Houston Association of Realtors releases its monthly market report. Each edition keeps its own permanent page, listed under Previous editions.
Where do the stories come from?
From public sources such as Community Impact, CultureMap Houston, Houston Public Media, TxDOT, city and county websites, school districts, Freddie Mac, the Federal Reserve and HAR. Every item links to its source with the publication date. We summarize each item in our own words and check the links before an edition goes up.
Which areas does it cover?
Five areas: the Inner Loop and central Houston (including the Heights, Montrose, EaDo, River Oaks, West U, Bellaire, Meyerland and Galleria/Uptown); the West (Memorial, Spring Branch, Katy, Fulshear, Bridgeland and Cypress); the North (Spring, Klein, The Woodlands, Tomball and Conroe); the Northeast (Kingwood, Atascocita, Humble and the Lake Houston area); and the South and Southwest (Sugar Land, Missouri City, Pearland, Friendswood, League City and Clear Lake).
Are the builder incentives you list still available?
They were listed on the builder's or community's own page on the date shown, but builder incentives change often, apply to select homes and usually require the builder's affiliated lender. Confirm current terms with the builder. We can help you compare offers before your first visit to a model home.
How do I get each edition by email?
Use the sign-up box on this page. It is free, it comes once a month, and you can unsubscribe anytime. You can also call or text (832) 777-3904 and we will add you.
Can I suggest a story?
Yes. Send local news to evan@thecompeangroup.com or call or text (832) 777-3904. We include items that have a public source we can link.
