We met Evan after we hit a few roadblocks with our initial realtor. Selling a lightly used home in a neighborhood which is still offering new construction homes is always a tough task.

Evan was able to get my home sold for a great price in less than a month from listing. Meanwhile, a home down the street with the same floor plan as mine has been on the market for 130 days and counting! Getting the initial offer was a feat in itself, but Evan demonstrated his strong experience during the negotiation process as he strategically was able to work many things in our favor.

We interviewed Evan as well as 2 other realtors. Even though Evan wasn't the most experienced of the 3, we found that he was the most interested in showing our property and displayed a "go get it" attitude. We weren't disappointed. Prior to listing our townhome, Evan confidently assured us that we could list it for far higher than we we thought prior to going through the process. The first open house and set of showings, the weekend after the listing went up, resulted in 3 highly competitive offers, one of which we countered near our initial asking price, and Evan successfully negotiated down the financing contingency substantially.

Following this, Evan helped us through virtually everything, from negotiating after the inspection report came back, to keeping us updated on everything through the bank appraisal. In fact, when the buyer was stubbornly expecting us to pay entirely for a whimsical fix (rerouting the air ducts), Evan even kicked in some of his own cash on top of what we were offering to make the deal go through. He is just a get-er-done kind of guy!

Through much of the process, we were already out of state onto our next endeavor. But Evan would always respond to inquiries well within an hour, even when they were sent at night or on the weekends. Since we weren't there in the days before the closing, he also arranged a cleaner that made the property exchange-ready at a very low cost.

I couldn’t recommend Evan and his team more highly. Before we were fortunate enough to be able to work with Evan on our buying needs, we began our home search with a different agent, and the whole thing was a bit of a nightmarish experience. As first time home buyers without any prior home buying experience, my spouse and I were very nervous about the whole process. We hit a jackpot when we found Evan after searching online! A few reasons why Evan has been a blessing – he is very knowledgeable, provides an honest professional opinion, offers help and goes through with his offer, and is there for the entire home buying process (including post-closing).

Let me elaborate – I like to ask a lot of questions and understand the nitty gritty of things instead of simply taking someone’s word for it. Evan was there to answer all my questions with any mode of communication that I chose – texts, phone call, or email. His response time was always less than a day (usually much more quickly). His responses were honest and he admitted when he didn’t have the answer to a question. When he didn’t have an answer, he always found someone who did and got us the info we requested. He has responded to my questions throughout the process – search, pricing, closing, and post-closing.

Besides being very responsive, Evan made every attempt to be there for the walkthrough and closing. He was crucial in communicating our needs to the builder (when we needed a few things fixed). He also help setup dates for the walkthrough when my spouse and I were busy with unexpected work.

Overall, Evan has been a pleasure to work with. I rarely hear great stories about realtors – it’s refreshing to come across someone who is knowledgeable, willing to help, nice to work with, and genuinely tries to understand the customer’s needs. Evan is a top-notch agent that really, really puts his best foot forward and makes sure his clients are 100% about the choices made from selling price to buying price and home selection. We started our selling and buying journey in April of this year and closed on a home until September. We were not the easiest clients but Evan was always positive and professional. Never once did he lose his cool and always stuck to his guns. Had we followed his lead, we probably would have sold and closed a lot sooner. We encountered a home from a Relocation company that we decided not to pursue, we dealt with a home we inspected, we were excited about that didn't appraise and another home we changed our minds on a few times ( we were very indecisive ). Evan was always working on our side to keep as many options open while keeping other potential options within reach just in case something didn't work out.
Long story short, we ended up with an amazing home, zoned to the schools we desired, on a great huge private lot. Through the entire process, never once did Evan rush us or seem pushy. He made sure we were always 100% on everything, every step of the way. He is an amazing negotiator and will use his expertise push for the best. He was always available 24/7 answering calls and emails (even while traveling) . If for some reason there were conflicts in his schedule, he made sure someone was always available to show us homes. He helped us both in Houston and Sugar Land, so he covers all the surrounding Houston area. I recommend Evan to all family and friends. Evan's personality is easy to like. My husband and I found Evan by searching on yelp for a realtor during the spring of 2014. His five star ratings and reviews first caught our eye, and after our experience with him we can see why.

We have been working with Evan for almost a year when we built our home. He is extremely knowledgeable, patient, and extremely responsive. Since this was our first home purchase, we had a lot of questions and insecurities throughout the process, but Evan was always quick to respond and ease any concerns that we had. He was always very thorough with his responses and used his previous experiences to relate to our questions. He even assisted us with advice on homeowners insurance, inspections, and coordinated our closing meeting with the title company.

We just closed on our house last week and he has been in contact with us multiple times after to make sure our punch list items are addressed accordingly. It is nice to know we are not left in the dark after the closing process.

We would highly recommend Evan to anyone looking to buy a home. If we ever move again we will definitely hire him again.

My husband and I found Evan after going through another totally unresponsive realtor in the area, and we're so happy we did.

He was attentive, patient, considerate, and extremely helpful throughout the entire process. In a seller's market, he took us to see multiple properties on multiple occasions, and had us in a new home in under 3 months.

I love that he serves the entire Houston marketplace, and was willing to drive to the ends of the Earth just to find us a house that we liked. As another reviewer mentioned, there was no BS from Evan. He was transparent and honest with us about any misgivings he had about a house, or things that worried him about the quality of the foundation, A/C, or any other usual suspects that could come back and bite us later. He even took us to the house right before we went to the closing so that we could be absolutely sure nothing about the property had changed.

He held our hands through all of the paperwork, offer negotiating, closing, etc., which we absolutely needed as first-time homebuyers.

To say that I am beyond thrilled with Evan Compean’s performance as my realtor would be an understatement. His integrity, professionalism, knowledge and work ethic impressed me to no end as he helped my husband and myself navigate the murky waters of first-time home buying with ease and grace. Yes, our closing was easy and graceful! How many people can say that?

I have heard the horror stories about lazy realtors who are non-responsive, disorganized, and who push their agenda despite the wants and needs of their clients. Evan Compean does not fall into this camp. Evan emailed to check in nearly every day of our home buying process. He quickly responded to questions late at night, early in the morning, and on Sunday afternoon. He kept abreast of things we didn’t know where problematic—paperwork issues that needed amended or collected from the seller of the house we purchased, for example. When our walkthrough the day before closing turned up several unaddressed issues (green pool, non functioning A/C, dishwasher issues) Evan kept a cool head mediating between ourselves and the seller; facilitated by Evan’s negotiation, the seller was able to turn things around in a matter of hours—not days, HOURS. Evan told me that he enjoys negotiating and problem solving and thank god for that. I would never have the patience to deal with the types of unpleasantries that can occur in between sellers and buyers in the home buying process.

Evan provided excellent lender recommendations, helping me to secure a better rate through a Texas broker than I was quoted through my national bank. He also saved me money by including a home warranty into our seller agreement and by finding credits that the mortgage company missed when they put together our paperwork.

I now consider Evan a friend and cannot wait to invite him to our housewarming this summer. Would I recommend Evan to others? Absolutely and without hesitation: yes.
